Thanks you guy's! I wire brushed them and coated them with several coats of spray on Performix PLASTI DIP. This rubberized coating needs no primer and should provide a very chip, flake, peel...etc, coating. Looks cool too...a nice matte finish.
Thanks everyone for keeping me in the dark side...
Okay! so I have your attention. I was simply looking for a way to salvage the crappy light guards without having to buy more crappy light guards. I get where you are all coming from and I will strip the ones I have and paint them in an appropriate color.
Thank you for the wake up call!
Steve.
Okay Guy's....I get the point!!!! forgive me for I have stepped over the line! I bow to you.
Just thought it would look cool but I am not normally a Shiney Guy!!!! Thank you for saving me!
I have a wire wheel paint stripper, I could strip the crud, prime and paint...would that make you...
Hi all!
My 01 SE7 came with black painted rear light guards and front brush guard which are now peeling badly. Does anyone know of a supplier for chromed brush guards and light covers or a company who can strip and chrome the ones I now have? I am in the Denver Colorado area. XXXChroming can...
Hi all,
I just bought a 2001 Disco2 SE7 with 85K on it. The vehicle is in great mechanical shape, I just had it serviced (the SES light was on) and everything checked out fine. All fluids checked, topped off, or refilled.
The previous owner had a nasty dog who partially ate through both...
Update...
I got a TPS error code and will install a new TPS today (the one on the throttle body). Hopefully that works. I see in my manual that there is 2 of these sensors?? One on the throttle body and one down by the gas pedal??? Is this right?
Steve.
Hi All,
Since the original problem of not starting when the engine is warm this truck got to the point where it started and died then stalled and would not restart! After being stranded for over an hour and calling a tow truck it started right up! It did this twice in the period of a few weeks...
My 96 Disco starts just fine when the engine is cold but when it has reached operating temp and I shut it down it does some weird stuff. When I restart the engine it will idle very low and often stall, if I rev it for a few minutes it seems fine but if I pull away as soon as I start it the...
Hi All!
I have a distinct click when I accelerate hard and the same click when I brake hard. I have recently rebuilt the front and rear drive shafts (rotoflex and U-Joints) but this clicking was present before the rebuilds. Any ideas?? You guy's have been dead on so far and I appreciate it...
Does the "stumbling" stop above 35mph? Also is there any vibration..noise, etc, when you take your foot off the gas and decelerate? If so it may well be prop shaft related, I had similar symptoms, replaced the U-joints and Rotoflex (easy stuff) and now it's perfect.
Hi, I just wanted to follow up on the outcome of this repair on my 96 Disco.
I pulled the front and rear driveshafts and found the Rotoflex was cracked at every bolt hole (replaced it of course), the U-Joint was fine.
The rear U-joint (front shaft) was a mess, one of the bearing arms was...
Hey BaldEagle,
Most of the parts I am getting are from RoverLand..my bad, the Flex Coupler is $50...still a good price I think.

BaldEagle,
I have found new drive shafts, complete with U-Joints, for $150 US, flex joints for about $30...all OEM. Given that U-Joints are around $28 each it seems like a good deal with the added insurance that I cover all the suspect parts. I would hate to change out some parts and then find...
Thanks Guy's!
I am thinking of replacing both the front and rear driveshafts (complete with with the u-joints) just to be sure I don't end up with wear problems relating to the remaining parts. The shafts are not that expensive.
Hi all,
It started as a squeaking when accelerating (I greased everything in sight) but after a month or so it has now become a serious vibration under acceleration and most noticeable between 30 and 50 MPH. When coasting it stops, it is also not present when braking. Am I correct in assessing...
Hey everyone, Happy Holidays!
I just drove my 96 Disco from Denver to LA and back (about 2,100 miles) and began to notice that the steering feels sloppy (about 3 inches of play at the steering wheel). It also has an intermittent vibration in the steering above 70 mph. Any ideas before I start...
