    2000 D2 for sale in Ottawa - $500

Need to make room in the garage. $500 for my 2000 D2 for any local folks in Ottawa. It will drive out of here, but needs a new windshield, and has some odd issue with XYZ switch or BCU that I couldn't troubleshoot (PRNDL flashing). Couple other issues like 3-amigos and A/C needs a recharge...

    2000 DII 160k - needs some love :)

Hey Folks.. I don't have time to work on this truck anymore.. I've owned it since 2000, and has been an awesome truck, but since I got my RR last year, this one sat out in the snow for the winter and I think water intrusion thru the cracked windshield has angered the BCU or ground point or...

    Help identify this electrical problem!

Thanks for the suggestions. I had the fusebox out already, and it looked pretty clean. I should mention that the car was sitting outside for 6 months, and has a badly cracked windshield, so it was fairly damp inside. I think I'll pull the BCU next and check it for corrosion. Will also check...

    Help identify this electrical problem!

Hey all, Getting my truck ready for sale and I've got what I suspect may be a BCU problem. 2000 Disco II. Hoping someone can help diagnose.. I'm about to start tracing wires thru the electrical diagrams to see what is common to all these faults. Things that don't work: 1. XYZ switch reports...

    normal brake rotor temperatures?

I can now confirm that the normal brake rotor temperature on an 08 RR is about 35 degrees C after driving about 2km with 3 or 4 stops in there. Not 305 degrees C. Ended up swapping in new rear calipers. Pistons in at least one of the old ones was seized - couldn't get it out to rebuild, so...

    jack points / axle stands

Hey, So I have enjoyed the past 14 years working on my discovery, and now am getting into working on an 08 RR. I note there are 4 jack points indicated in the manual, but I can't seem to easily figure out how to get stands set up. I've tried jacking beneath the large triangular assembly which...

    normal brake rotor temperatures?

Well, the pizza idea didn't work :( Pulled the brakes this weekend and the guide pins were fine. looks like the caliper/piston are seized though. Couldn't for the life of me get the cylinder free, so just put it back on. Coasted to the end of my road (500m) and the brakes got up to 500F...

    normal brake rotor temperatures?

Hey folks.. I've noticed my 08 RR is starting to shudder a little at moderate speed - thought it may have been the road, but I suspect otherwise. Almost feels like it's missing, but nothing on the dash lighting up. On the way home today I noticed a brake squeal with the window down.. only...

    Parting Out DII

thanks. probably right on the windshield, I just haven't looked around yet. working my way through a dozen to-do's on the old truck before I sell it.. finally managed to free the guide pin from that rear caliper carrier (20 more minutes of heating, chiselling, and a stud extractor finally...

used D2 rear caliper and new guide pins

I just swapped out the rear LH caliper on my 2000 D2 and installed new guide pins. I probably only needed the guide pins or maybe seals. Actuates fine, but wasn't releasing completely, causing some rotor friction. I will also throw in the other 2 new guide pins and gaskets (came in a pack of...

    glowing red rotor?

Hi Scott.. I was pressed for time, so I didn't look at it closely at all -- it was raining on me. I was more concerned at the time with figuring out whether it was the hub (!!) or the brakes. Just checked AB, and they have some pin kits, etc. So I guess that's one thing to check. Will check...

    glowing red rotor?

I took a 2 hour drive recently, and when I got out of the truck, I noticed a funny smell. One of my rear wheels was very hot, and I could hear it contracting as it was cooling down.. even noticed a faint red glow on the rotor for a few seconds!! Presuming it was the brakes, I took the wheel...

    what a crappy starter design...

or rather, crappy connector. I've been having intermittent starter problems, which typically required a jiggle of the starter cable to fix. I finally decided to go out and check the starter, and wow.. what a dinky little connector on that thing for the relay lead! It's just a small spade...
