Ok, Im looking at purchasing another Rover after a horrible 99 DII experience. I currently have a 4runner that I know (with regard to quality) a Land Rover couldnt touch in a mechanical sense. Is the 04 DII that much better mechanically then the 99? If so, I may go for it instead. Thanks for any feedback

most people will tell you to search. then they will tell you to get an '04. we're biased towards solid axles and (less) electronics on here...

Drive them both and then decide if you want the soccer mom LR3 or the truck style drive DII, and the amount of cash you want pay for the vehicle. I personally would suggest the LR3. For every mile my DII gets the LR3 gets 10, and the Audi gets 100.

The threads are on here that can answer most any questions about either vehicle.

Good advice, drive them both. Alot more aftermarket support for the DII, and they are very capable built up. The LR3 is going to be more comfortable and certainly better at towing. However the LR3 is suprisingly capable offroad as well. Just a few more limiting factors involved, ground clearence and a few other things. Hopefully the aftermarket will take care of that in the next few years.

If your looking for something totally reliable, get another 4runner. Next to that do the LR3, you'll get a vehicle that handles on road better than a DII, and it performs well off road. Aftermarket is starting to put stuff out for the LR3 but there is not much, compaired to the DII's.
