1/2 person sub $100 tent

any suggestions? i got soaked at the MAR this year and im looking for a good tent to keep me warm and dry? any suggestion besides the stuff at wally world?

Some of the Eurekas aren't bad and can be had for under $100 - Timberline 2

You can sometimes get good deals on the Zeus 2 exo tent as well for around $100

Also worth taking a look at the sierra outfitters site - they normally have some pretty good deals on tents.

Definitely stay away from the bulk of the wally world stuff

thanks, bass pro shop has the eureka zeus tent for ~140. looks like the water just runs right off of it, its bad when your air matress is floating in your tent

How about a Cabelas XPG Ultralight tent ?


I have a slumberjack predator bivy which they now call the Explorer Bivy and it has done Ok in rainy windy conditions.. Although you'll want to spray some water proofer on it every year..

I have a nice Marmot tent, cost $150.. It withstand MAR for the most part, except where I left the zipper open (Note to self, setting up tent while intoxicated, in the dark and in the mud, isn't a good idea)

the one appealing factor to me about the zeus is the almost full rain tarp. and yeah ryan, i know what you mean about setting up in the dark...i was in such a hurry i forgot to put my rain tarp on...

I used a tentcot at MAR. Set it up in a couple of minutes, and stayed nice and dry in the rain. I did use the optional rainfly, though.
