I found what appears to be a nice 1984 Series III ex-MOD 109 truck for sale and was wondering if any folks on here have any opinions on them or anything they can tell me about them.

Anything would be appreciated.

Alan,

They can be good vehicles, if you find them in decent condition. Decent means very little u se, and typically on standby or fleet reserve. They are subject to the usual thorough inspection deserving of any Series. if you lucky you'll find a low mileage, non-abused basic vehicle that is the perfect platform to start with. Then again, since you're in the Great White North, forget about it and look for a 110 Tdi 2-door ;-)

Yea there are 110's around both in petrol and diesel although the diesel is a little harder to find. This Series III that's being advertised is asking for $9000 CDN which seems like a decent price. I agree though, I do prefer a 110 but they're much more expensive. All the 110's I've seen in the same year range start at $30,000 and go up.

Hold out for the 110 two-door.

grin.

it's worth it for the coils alone.

the 2.5 diesel is a dog but it seems like a solid motor.
The LT77/LT230R is low, low, low.

i'm already dreaming 300tdi/R380/LT230
