Also posted on roversnorth.com. Just trying to get as many oppinions as possible.
OK here goes. I'm a Series guy so the "new" stuff is a little intimidating to me. I'm looking for something to haul my SIII off to rallies and off road events.
There is a 94' Disco with 118.5K on it here in town for $3,500. I have not driven it yet as I don't want to get attached before the wife says no or go. The owner says that he had the head gaskets replaced about 8-10 months ago and had a new steering box installed "sometime within the past year, year and a half." The interior is a little on the rough side: rear sunroof does not work, AC is cold but only works on 1 and 2 speeds, leading edge of dash is peeling up, clips holding down the "roof" of the instrument cluster were broken by a mechanic, the head liner is sagging due to the front sunroof being left open one rainy night, there is a gap of aprox. this much (---) between the front and rear door on the passengers side, the rubber mat on the center console is peeling up and the black plastic surround of the window switches is very loose. I don't mind fixing all of the little bits and pieces of the trim work (little things like that bother me much more than they should) I just don't want to get too far in over my head.
Are there any things in particular I should have my local guy look for when I get this Rover checked out?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
