I know the area somewhat, and I just replaced the thermostat, but that wasn't the problem. I still have the code for a busted CTS, a digipic of the engine w/ a shot of the sensor is about all I need. Anyone have that handy? Oh and a couple bucks for gas...Thanks

melissa, i dont know if it is coolant or oil. I am just commenting on the dark patch i see on the engine valley to the left and beneath the the top coolant hose connection arm. maybe its just a shadow or water (if you were cleaning the engine but from the looks of the dust on the rt of yer engine that probablyt isn't the case)

maybe i am just hyper sensitive in my looking for leaks.

Ahhhh Jason I can't handle it. I am going out to look at the truck. Yeah I do believe that its valve cover gaskets, they are leaking..mixing with the dust ect therefore it causes that greasy look..Or there is another leak that I am unaware of which is plausible. I get one thing fixed and I wait very patiently for something else to come up ;)

I noticed those wires too... Hmm.

have you had your thermostat replaced lately? to the right of the thermostat cover there is a kinda of grayish streak tht runs vertically. check that out and see where it looks like its coming from. If you did hve the thermostat replaced it may not have been tightened completely and coolant could be leaking from there.

dont get all freaked out. what ever is casuing the stains deosn't seem very bad. I am just hyper anal in my watching for leaks or new spots etc. What i do wheni see something that looks new or that i never noticed before is, I look the area over and see if i can obviously descern where the leak/spot is coming from. If i cant do that than i clean the area up really well and watch for it to reapear. If and when it does reappear it will know be more noticable and easier to trace. again dont worry. I'm a bit of a mechanical hypocondriac, i am always waiting for the shoe to drop and have a problem that is gonna cost me $$$.

by the way if your valve covers are leaking you might wanna check the valve cover breather hoses they can get gunked up and limit the air flow whihc causes pressure build up inside the valve covers which can inturn force more oil leakage. (im not that mechanically smart, i just read that last part here on Dweb)

Justin I wish I could. I live in Oklahoma.... MAR/ROV are so far away. I am not sure that me and my trusty LR could make it that far. Let me check my schedule.. I am pretty booked these days with coolant leaks, gasket problems, CEL, too low of an idle now, oh and I almost forgot law school. ;)
