i have put a new 4.0 in my 1988 rrc and installed a 14cux ecu. the EFI light is comming on and coding out as a problem with the stepper motor. replaced the stepper motor and still get the same code and EFI light. after resetting the ecu, the light seems to come on about every 160 miles. has anyone run into this when doing the motor swap?

Well......

Hi, I hope this helps. The Stepper Motor code is set when 14CUX is trying to get the engine to a specific RPM and can't do it.

My Guesses are the timing isn't right, or you have a stuck advance, or the mechanical weights have been pulled out when you took out the rotor.

Or, your base idle isnt set correctly.

If you need to know who to set it, I can tell you.

Those 2 are likely reasons. Aside from vacuum leaks and such.

Again, its because the computer cannot reach the RPM it wants to, is when it sets that code.
