I am looking to replace the short block on my 98 Disco and am curious as to what it would take to switch to a 4.6.

Thanks

Soooo....If I purchase a new/rebuilt short block, which I have noticed usually comes with the cam, I can bolt on the upper half. What mods do I need to do to the ECU? How about motor mounts? Will all of the ancillaries bolt on the same as the 4.0?

The heads are the same, as is the timing gear. I take it you have the GEMS distributor-less ignition system -- if so, you probably need to send it to RPi to be reprogrammed. Check out the RPi site -- it'll answer your questions.

short blocks do not come with cams. ONly long blocks which is why I listed is seperately.

everything else bolts on.

You would want a chip for the ECU but it is not 100% necessary in the short run.

Many comp safari types run RPI, but lets be real. The rover V8 is not a race engine except mayube in a plus 8 in vintage racing.

Who is going to drop that kind of money for an engine for a disco I.

I've got a spare ECU for a 4.6 if you need it.

Ok so the short block doesn't come with a cam. Is RPI the only place to send the ECU? Anywhere in the states? I am going to give Nathan a shout Monday and order away. Ron, what is the scoop on that cam of yours? Miles, cond, price, etc...

Thanks
