Whatdya people think of this one:

I'm soooo tempted! I spent some time living in Kenya and my brother-in-law had one just like it...except in Safari Green, of course! It's only about 1.5 hours from me and this same guy just sold a '71 Series w/plow for $3750.

What would one expect to pay for a fine old piece like this? I really don't have an idea and can't seem to look up a value (NADA/KBB)...NADA only lists the Series in '74. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Jon sends.

HMM.

I have a lhd turbodiesel like this. Mine was converted I think. I would not take $10k for it. Mine is a 74. I think the one you are looking at is worth $5-8k range. a friend of mine bought one in NY last year from a guys collection he paid about $6500.00 for it. It had about 55k on it. It had a high performance V8 in it. But it had some rust on it The truck you are looking at seems to have had a lot of work done to it.

Regards,

John

Tempting...to say the least!

Yes, oh yes! I'm not so sure about the 3.5 w/carbs though...easier to tool on I suppose. My '95 DI does need a buddy.

Were you also watching the Series he had posted last week? Listed it three times...1st time, few bids, reserve way too high...2nd, not a single bid...3rd, lowered the reserve to lowest NADA and it went. The Fisher plow setup on it was worth near that.

A day and a half to go...I guess I'm still watching...

The only one, huh... he must not have looked very hard. There's quite a few of them around. Problem is that most of the people who have them aren't posting on the major L.R. forums and stuff.

It would take a pile of $ to get me to part with mine... and from the pics of the one on eBay, it's not the nicest one I've seen although the miles he claims are quite low.

who knows? maybe we have a winner...

I don't believe most of what he has in his listing; only one in the US, we know that's not true...33,000 original miles, not sure if I believe that...extensive restoration/refurbishment, uhhh not really...runs great, that's to be seen...and his pictures (on both sites) suck...but I do like the truck...and the price is right, so far.

The more I read the part about "extensive restoration/refurbishment" the more it makes me giggle. Repainting the wheels and changing the fluids isn't restoration. Look at the rear door frame- it's a gonner. Front fenders- gonner. It appears to be an easy fix, but it'll take $4K to make it a $6K truck. Unfortunately, there's a limited appeal when it comes to selling one. Makes you wonder if the chassis paint was to conceal a problem... the sills also go out on these things and you can't see it from the outside.
