95 Cranks but won't fire

Hey Dweb! Been a while as me and my 95 D1 have had no trouble. Just replaced the steering box to get rid of constant drip and ran into trouble.

:) Replaced the steering box and worked fine except I got a high pitched squeal at idle. No noise above idle. Yes, I bled the box to fill the pump several times and can't really trace the squeal to the pump. The archives are littered with pumps that fail right after a box change so I have to keep it in mind.

After two days or a bout 10 miles I parked it overnight and now it will crank very well but  won't fire a lick. Fuel pump puts pressure to rail (don't have a gage, just press the schrader valve and fuel squirts for 1 second indicating pressure).

Checked fuses for fuel pump and fule injection and they are not blown.

Pulled a sparkplug and it is dry but that's probably not a surprise since it won't fire the fuel probably won't flow. Tried cranking with plug out and couldn't see a spark but have no helper and it was daylight.

:( Any suggestions before I cave in and have it towed? If I have it towed are you folks having sucess with regular shops since the 95 is old technology?

Thanks in advance!

If there is no spark at the spark plug, it's one of two things. Either the ignition coil needs to be changed or the ignition module, just below the coil. Both items are easy to change.

my DI does this when the cap and rotor need to be replaced....

pop your cap off, clean off any build up on the rotor tip and inside the cap. pop it back on, if it fires up then replace them with genuine parts asap. because it will continue to happen

If you have fuel to the rail, but no spark and the injectors aren't pulsing (verify other than dry plugs) then sounds like a problem with the overall timing. The vehicle doesn't know you are trying to start it. Check your ignition fuses and inside the distributor for damage.

Water pump is going out.

Pressing the schrader valve isn't a good test of the fuel pressure - it'll spray impressively with under 20psi. Put a gauge on it.

While you have the cap off the dist, see if the rotor turns while you're cranking on it.

OK, I added fuel and used starter fluid to get it started. I think it got an air bubble as it was parked uphill at an unusual angle and the low fuel light was on. Now it runs fine- except at low rpm it has a squeal thats like avacuum leak. Does this car have a PCV valve? Is it possible the crankcase gets plugged and sucks air in thru a seal or gasket somwhere at low manifold pressure?
