Every now and then I get white mist blowing out of the AC. Usually only when it has been on for a while. Has anyone else experienced this? '96 D1. Thanks.

Yes. It's water vapour, due to humidity in the air.

Sounds like your drains are plugging up, just need to open them up again.

It can also be a sign of low refrigerant charge (overcooling). If the clutch starts cycling too often, or if it stops cooling, that's what it is.

I had the same syptoms. I used to get a white mist that would come out of the AC and it was just a clogged AC drain. The fix is easy. You just crawl under the car and use your fingers and clean the nipples. The are located under the car are the front passanger seat area. I don't have a picture of these nipples but if you do a search of this site I sure you can find it. You can tell once the clog has been cleared because about a cup or so of warm water will come pouring out of the drain.

Just check the drains before you do anything. It takes about 5 minutes and no tools are required. (This is common if you go offroadng.)
