Airbags and Winch Bumpers

Hi,

I am looking into a winch bumper for my 03 disco, I have read many threads on the ARB/TJM airbag compatible vs the Rovertym etc.

My question is on the NON Air Bag compatible ones are people removing the SRS Fuse when they go off road and putting it back in on the road or are they going totally with out the air bags?

What ever bumper you go with, first remove the krumple cans and mount directly to the frame, you will have alot more strength, the air bags will still work and you won't tear your new bumper off because of weak cans.Also never screw with the SRS just go and have fun and let the truck take care of you.

Doesn't the airbag system work off interia switches that are in the middle of the truck anyway? The only problem is that big huge bumpers with bad approach angles (rhymes with ARV) transfer shock straight to the frame if you whack it hard.

i've had non-SRS bumpers. the air bag works just fine. the only thing that changes is the severety of the impact that requires to trigger the airbags.

if you are worried about air bags popping while on the trail, then you have other issues ... :) like using the steering wheel properly. LOL

my only concern with non-SRS bumpers, is in case you get into an accident, and the insurance claims fuckers start talking shit about your nonSRS aftermarket bumper.
then you are screwed. other than that, i see no problems with the nonSRS bumpers.

Lawyers are starting to look into suing the crap out of SUV owners when people driving econo-sh*tboxes get splattered by them. As litigious as everyone gets these days, I don't know if I want to go with aftermarket bumpers anymore (at least on the new one- the old one I still want to).
I don't understand why people fault the ones who decide to drive a bigger safer vehicle. Isn't that how Darwinism works? The smarter ones see a risk and take a measure to avoid it, then the stupid ones get killed by our bumpers? ;)
Methinks I'll do the DAP/Bearmach hidden winch on the 04 and try to find a Saudi grille. Don't know what I'll hook the limb risers to though without a brush guard.
