I found a good deal on the Alpine CDA-9825. Has anyone installed this CD player as a replacement for the stock cassette deck in the Disco S model? If not, what Alpine unit (or any other in dash CD player) did you use as an aftermarket replacement? Thanks in advance!

I've got that deck in my 2001 Discovery. They were able to use an adaptor that goes from Alpine to Volkswagan. The only difference between the Volkswagan connector and mine was that the clock, and main power wires are switched. You can just pull the two wires out of the adaptor's connector and push them back in switched.

In mine it works great!

Go to page 5 on the link in my signature. I've got a 9833, which is the same deck with a few more options. You'll can find adapters and plastic strip on www.autotoys.com.

I also like the deck on page 6 :) In all seriousness though thanks for the link. That gives me more of an idea what it will look like all installed.

I've got a Kenwood head unit in my Discovery...being able to play mp3 CD's is great! If I can find it I'll post the part number to the Land Rover trim piece that goes below the face plate. Also, it is a VW adapter that work on the Discovery, you'll just need to redo some wires first.

Please post the pics if you have a chance. I would like to see how it fits in the dash with the trim piece. I want it to look as clean as possible if I swap the head units. Thanks!
