if it's a 70% residual, sign me up!!!

i doubt the residual is that good on a lease, but anything is an improvement on the older disco's. when we were shopping for a 2004 disco in the middle of this year, residual was something like 45%, disgusting. i can understand it being a little lower for leasing mid-year but not that bad. we ended buying a former service loaner hse7 for $30.8k w/only 3300miles on it.

if the residual on a $50k lr3 were 70%, before the money factor, that's only $416/mo on a 3yr lease. no way the residual is that high.

30 month.. 72% at 12k.. unreal. 36 month is 63% at 12k.. compared to disco 30 mo at 51% and 36 mo at 43%.. LR3 has the highest residual ever, even better than X5. it does make for good lease figures.

Looks like you got yourself another customer Gil... or is that another statement with about as much value as the remainder of his post.

can't count bruno?

anything wrong with liking new cars? if i like the lr3 and the math adds up, why not switch? it shouldn't be too hard to find a buyer for my hse7 w/only 4500miles for a $30k asking price. if the money factor on the lr3 is fair, it might be fun to rent a new car for 2.5years (thats 30months bruno). if gil is nice and works at bmc in sf, lr of marin, or any bay are lr dealer i very well could be a customer.

no need to get confrontational there montoya... im in CT, about as far from the bay area as geographically possible;) your money factors are .00300 for 30.. .00285 for 36.. as long the dealers dont bump them. im running 30 mo, 12k around $700 with nothing down at sticker.. in that ballpark at least.

Yes, they are selling very quickly. We got a bunch of SEs in that no one had ordered (every ONE of my customers ordered an HSE), so we actually have LR3s available! I never expected that. We never had Freelanders or Range Rovers available when they first came out. Now if you want an HSE, it'll be at the EARLIEST February, but probably a lot later than that unless we can dealer trade.

And Residuals in the 70s are absolutely obscene. I've never seen that before! The payment is still a lot more than the Discovery was, but it's a much more expensive vehicle.

Yeah, hell, my bud got the nutty $399 Disco lease...

Any news on when LR will offer good financing or factory-subvened leases on the LR3?

The factory subvened leases are here-- what do you think a 70+% residual is?!
They are offering 4.9% financing, but you can get better elsewhere. As I'm sure you know, LR doesn't usually do spectacular financing. They'll offer money back vs. fiancing, but the money back is always better. And we're no where close to needing money back onthe LR3.

And I have to second that on the busiest day ever on Saturday. It wasn't the actual busiest day, but it was one of the busiest days I've seen in a while. It was like Christmas time, when everyone comes in at the last minute to buy their significant other a Range Rover for Christmas/Hannukah or before the year is out for tax reasons.

Some of the demand may be due to the changes in tax laws on leases. I remember reading about a change that, as the government puts it, closes a loophole in which large SUVs were eligible for 1st year deductions. In 2005 this is no longer true. I would expect to see a late 2004 bump in leases followed by a drop off next year. This may explain the increased show room floor traffic.

So... anyone inquire about other trails up at Montebello ? I'm thinking Lac Crush was just an "aperitif".
