another keyless entry problem

i've read the other posts about this and none answer my question, which is simple. What size battery is needed to replace the one in the remote. my father took out the battery to replace it, never did, and somehow managed to loose the old one. this means i obviously can't just go to the store and compare. also...kind of related....using the key to manually unlock the car has become more and more difficult. literally. it all still works as it's supposed to, it's just become damn hard to turn, and i'm afraid that one day soon i'm going to break my key off in the door. i tried the obvious solution of putting lubricant in the keyhole with no success. thanks in advance for any advice.

d1 94-95 or d1 96-99 or d2 99-02 or d2 02-04?

I'm pretty sure my 95 single button remote was a cr2032

Not sure on the battery size.... (remote on my dresser) The key in the door issues sounds like you need to take off the door panel and clean and lube the linkage, as well as clean and lube the door lock as well.

Of course I have no clue, and I am sure someone will point this out.
