Defendoor

Guest
Hi all, I saw a bunch of visitors coming to my site from this forum. My first thought was 'Disco Sucks'. I then came to your forum and realized that you're all talking about something else.

My name is Mark and I am the person who came up with the 'Defendoor' idea and finally took it to production. So many of my ideas never make it to reality - I somehow loose interest or find that's it not such a great idea after all. This idea was actually born of necessity, we live well set back in the forest and mountains of the Czech Republic. The nearby stream is our drinking water and powers a generator creating our electricity and this computer. I was tired of dealing with a frozen cap lock, snow and ice, frozen mud, and (to a lesser extent) the eternal sludge built up in the recess corners of our Defender 110. I used to stuff a rag in there but thought about a cover made out of the same material as a Frisbee. Wa La - the DEFENDOOR

I bought a couple on ebay it seems cool but i like gadgets....

Thanks for your purchase and knowing the NH winter, I assume it's functional. If you get up to the top of Mount Washington with the cover on your Defender - send me a picture. I hiked the Appalachian Trail for 78 days in 1976 from Katahdin in Maine to Maryland and must say your state is beautiful. I had a wonderful encounter in Rattle River lean-to that I will never forget.

Hey Paul, No need for the help, thanks anyway. You got me thinking - I knew that this material was flame retardant (LDPE-FR) but I had never tested before your post. I took one outside with my torch and burned a hole through the cover without it catching fire.

Here is a picture.

Thank you for giving me a forum to reply and Rover Rik in the USA for starting the thread.

I bought a couple. It works well, especially for those slushy frozen days. And if it does freeze in it's place, I guess I could always try peeing on it.
Simple yet effective.
