I need to swap out an axle seal on a P38 where it sits in a garage. What size is the nut at the end of the axle?

52mm DEEP on my D1. Amazon 52mm looked too shallow. Forked out for the Britpart on ebay..

In hindsight, some channel locks would have been enough.. Maybe use a chiseled like whomever was in there before me (dealership with P/O)

Save the 50$ ??

Typically those are 32mm on MOST cars.. After a minute on google seems to be same for D2..

Which also happens to be 1-1/4" if you already have that socket..

the seal is replaced.
There was evidence of leaking from the seal and it looks like the CV boot might also be leaking a bit. When I cleaned it and inspected I could not find visible tear so it may be a small pin hole.
The seal itself was fouled, but I am a little surprised it gave up so suddenly.

Just for good measure the ball joint on the pitman arm decided to break. Thankfully it was in a parking lot a very slow speed. I suppose those conditions put the greatest stress on steering components, but I am not happy having installed a new drag link just 3 years ago when I began this restoration project.

I'll spend the extra and go with Lemforder ball joints this time and will replace both drag link and tie rod.
