I know you guys are all sick of "best tire" threads, but I need some quick advice...

I have brand new suspension on a 2k DII, and need tires that will both wheel, AND handel snow /ice.

I will shoot for mid range brand, unless someone suggests otherwise, but I need sizes that *work* with no mods, the biggest possible would be great, without rub...

thanks so much!

just found it!

thanks though...

I guess I wanted to make sure there wasn't a more detailed page.

I am going to have a few more questions here in a sec though...

I ran 245s on my d1 util I went up to 235/85s. tire size is addicting planning on going up to 255/85 with new gears. If you are doing minor wheeling 245s are great.

I have a '99 DII with a stock suspension. I run the Interco Truxus 267/75/16 in winter and do a little wheeling. I had some minor rubbing (lived with it that way last winter), so reciently I cut the front bumper as in the Tech section, and no problems since. The setup works (and looks) great for me. I've never tried the MTR's but I love the Truxus. I think I paid around $650 for 5 of them from tire rack.

I have 245/75/16 BFG ATs on my stock D2 and they're great. Fantastic in rain and snow, very comfortable on the road (although they are much louder with 30k than new), and great offroad until you get into thick mud. They have taken me everywhere I *needed* to go and most places I wanted to go. You do get stuck in mud, but that is a tradeoff I can live with since it's a daily driver.

The guys at my shop love the ride/look so much that they all wonder why LR didn't fit these stock. They also have great longevity.

BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO - 245/75R16 at costco are $151 installed.
They use nitrogen instead of air... wow... ::yawn:: but that's a good price with installation.

I have the Bridgestone Dueler REVO's on my DII and love them. Check tirerack.com for reviews. I have about 10K miles and have not been through a Winter with them yet. We'll see how they do...

steve,

i contacted costco when I was looking for tires.. I spoke to a service manager at one local costco, and they said they would not mount anything that is not factory recommended by land rover.. I also then contacted corporate and they said their policy is not to mount them, but the final decision is up to the service manager.
