Are you sure your clutch fluid is the problem, do you have to pump it up or is the clutch really soft, could be a bad mast or slave also.
Assuming both cylinders are OK and never having bled a Rover clutch before, I was wondering if you have ever tried to just do a gravity bleed. Fill up with fresh fluid and open the bleeder up, allow it to drip until clean fluid shows up and then tighten it up again. Works great when bleeding brakes.
Just a thought,

i have just replaced some of the clutch line so i had empty clutch lines. just seems like i cant get all the air out. just keeps spitting it out. yep both my cylinders are in good shape. i have been told of a trick which involves filling a jar up with fluid and attaching a hose to the bleed valve with the end submerged into the fluid. so when bleeding instead of sucking air into the system she sucks back fluid. so i will give that a go. also i think another idea is to raise the front end of the car so that fluid runs into the rear of the slave??? i will try anyway.
