I have bluetooth in the 06 Infiniti M (I know, not a Rover... sorry) and its alright. Its hard to hear people when they call and I feel like I have to yell for them to hear me, maybe the speakers in the LR3 and RR work a lot better. The system will connect to my Treo easily, but I would not pay for it unless they got everything working really well. I would wait a couple more years until all issues are resolved.

Jonas,
I noticed you mentioned that your LR3 dings once when you are driving around. I have the same thing, and finally discovered why. I park my LR3 in the garage which is always warm. So if the temperature outside is 39 degrees F or less, it takes a few minutes for the ambient air temperature sensor to get to the right temperature. Once the sensor hits the 39 degree F mark, it dings at you to let you know there could be ice. If you look at the display in your instrument panel, you should see a small snowflake to the left of the 39 degrees. Hopefully that is what it is. I know it drove me crazy trying to figure out what was doing it.

Volume is LOUD AND CLEAR in my Range Rover with Bluetooth. It works exceptionally well. The stereo mutes, the Nav screen switches to the phone screen, the number shows up on the screen with green & red phone buttons, and you can either press the green button, your voice button on your steering wheel, or ok on your phone to answer the call. The microphone is in the headliner, and the sound is produced through your entire vehicle. You just speak in a normal voice, like you are talking to a passenger. It's actually a better phone listening environment than using a traditional corded phone. The only "bug" I have is with call waiting... It will freeze the 2nd number on the screen until I'm done with both calls, and I have to manually use my phone to accept the 2nd call. I have a Sony T610, and they do tell you you are supposed to disable call waiting, so it isn't like they are unaware of the problem. I absolutely LOVE the bluetooth system in the Range Rover.

We have a 2005 LR3. Is most of this conversation applicable to me (I am confused by the "Phase 2" discussion)? There is little discussion in the manual about a cradle -- and none supplied (I gather these are phone specific so need to be purchased separately). The bottom line for me is: if I get a phone that works with the LR3 (my Motorola V710 doesn't seem to work), will I get an increased range?

My experience with the Bluetooth in my 06 LR3 HSE is similar to that of Alyssa?s in her Range, I?ve had no problems at ALL. I use a Blackberry 8700c through Cingular, never needed to buy anything additional from the dealer, just use whatever she came with. Good luck?.

Derek wait till your on a call and you get another one... It locks up... to get back to the radio you have to diconnect the blue tooth and than re connect...

It's most likely not applicable to you. Did your vehicle come with PTI (personal telephone integration)? Most (if not all) 2005 LR3s did NOT have this option. I believe it only became available in 2006 MY as an option on LR3, or at the very least was very late 2005 MY availability. If, however, you purchased the "kit" from the dealer, which is installed AT THE DEALERSHIP, and costs in the range of $900, you can retrofit bluetooth to your vehicle. It will not be as fully integrated as the factory option, though.

The v710 is a compatible phone, so if you are not able to connect, I doubt you have bluetooth at all.

The increased range will ONLY apply if you PURCHASE a cradle FROM LAND ROVER, and have your phone plugged directly into the cradle. If you have a cradle, but don't have the phone in it, you will not be using the vehicle's antenna.

Getting rid of "Bond with Land Rover" message

I have a slightly different issue. I found the usability to vary greatly--sometimes others can hear me very well, other times it is unusable. It seems to be independent of speed. I do have the dealer-installed module, so I sometimes charge my phone with a lighter-cord. That seem to leak radio interference, so removing that had helped.

I decided to stop using the built in system and revert to a headset. So on my phone I deleted "LAND ROVER" and now it doesn't connect.

What DOES happen is that every time I unlock the car, or open the door, or start it, my phone says: "Bond with LAND ROVER?" (yes or no). It's kind of annoying. It does it EVERY TIME. I cannot figure out how to stop it via the phone.

Any ideas?

Our 2005 LR3 does have a phone button on the console and it does appear to go into some type of blue tooth phone mode when pushed, but not much else. I'll post greater details if this is not enough.

Maybe Alyssa can help me with my LR3 2006. The folks at both the dealership and the home office are useless.

Is there a way to manually entered the names and numbers into the phone book by using the keypad on the main console.

I asked both the dealership and home office and they both recommended calling each other to find out

Thanks

In the manuals the dealership gave you there is a usually 4 digit code that you must enter to connect your phone to the Blue tooth functionality of the LR3

It certainly isn't resolved yet, and I've yet to have a blackberry work with LR bluetooth. Everyone has them (or Treos) and while they recognize each other exists (most of the time), they won't connect. I've had one Treo connect, but it wouldn't accept calls & froze the system. When we tried to disconnect & reconnect, it wouldn't reconnect again. BMW is the same way, btw. It isn't just a LR thing. Land Rover won't certify a phone unless they're sure it will work in every car, with every phone of the same model & software. If you can get your blackberry to work, more power to you. There's nothing wrong with a non-certified phone that works... My best advice is always to just go to the phone dealer with your LR, have the phone people let you bring the phone out to the car and see that it works. If it doesn't, don't get it. Try another phone.

I don't know if you've had this happen to you, but several of my customers who have treo's have had no luck pairing on delivery, then a week or two later have called me saying it suddenly started working fairly well (like 80-90 percent of the time) have you had that happen yet? Seemed wierd to me.

My boss is picking up a 2007 Range Rover today and uses Verizon as his cell phone provider. Must he use the cradle for the phonebook to be accessible via the nav screen and steering wheel controls?

Are there any phones and cradles that will work offered by Verizon? The phones on the Land Rover compatiblity listing are all old models. Thank you.

Yes. The cradle is the only way the address book will work through the nav screen & steering wheel.

There are very few cradle phones offered. The only phones for cradles currently are:
Nokia 3100, 6100, 6230, 6820 & Sony T610.
