Catastrophic Transfer Case Failure?

I just wanted to follow up as my new transfer case is now in the truck. This thing is so damn quiet I hear all sorts of new noises

No nipple on the replacement box

Did you ever take yours apart craig?

I blew a Dana 21 case once ('73 Bronco). I had shifted it (high/low) while moving and chipped a tooth, you could hear the chipped tooth in low range, it shifted (hard shift, automatic ******) apparently on the broken/chipped tooth and tried to climb on top of the next tooth resulting in a transfer case (the aforementioned Dana) in 13 pieces.

Probably a different problem, but is it possible that there was damage before?
