Has anyone camped in Chattahoochee National Forest and have any hints or tips for me. I'd like to camp at the Desoto Falls or Cooper Creek campgrounds and will be going in the early fall ~Sept to Oct.

What all is in the region that I should see or do? Are there any easy to moderate truck trails I can have fun on? (I'll be the only truck so no "extreme" stuff) Are there any local secrets I should know of?

Anything will be of some help. It'll be like a 6 hr drive there and I'll be there from a Friday night through Sunday afternoon........

Thanks all,

Dan Long

The annual Solaros Southern Appalachain Expedition is scheduled for the weekend of September 7-10 in Blairsville Georgia - see www.solaros.com for details.

There are lots of spots in the Chattahoochee NF where you can just pull off the road and set up camp - lots of places in Cooper Creek area and up along Tray Mountain Road north of Helen GA. You can pick up a Chattahooche NF map from the ranger stations in Blairsville, Amicalola or from REI - there are hundreds of miles of scenic gravel back roads to ride down and explore.
