Hello Friends.
I have a nice little oil leak going on in my 96 Disco, which im sure is typical. Does anyone have any tips as far as cleaners...oil removers and such. I need t pclean it well to try to isolate the area where the leak starts.. Ill powerwash it but I need to degrease it first.

I use that bio friendly citrus spray on stuff from costco. I don't use a pressure washer just a hose. spray it on let it sit for a few minutes and spray off. be careful of electrical connections. worked great for me.

I recommend a steam clean anyway, but especially when you are trying to find an oil leak. The steam pretty much gets everywhere (in all the little crevices and spaces) so it really gets ALL the oil off well. Most good garages do it for a nominal fee. Then after the steam cleaning, just keep looking under there every day with a flashlight to see if you can tell where the leak is coming from. If you still can't tell after that, you may need to dye the oil and use a black light.

UV die to find leaks.....

simple green & steam clean will do wonders.... why don't you use some UV die? most parts stores sell it.. just add to the oil (usually comes in powder form) Very easy to find leaks once the engine is clean... just add die, run for a day or 2 & get black light to pinpoint leaks.... Couldn't be easier
