Code Problems...

Ok, here it goes...I have a '96 Disco I. My MAF went out, so I got another and thought that was the end, well the other day I had my friend use his scan tool and found 8 faults! The codes were... P1179, P1157, P0300, P0308, P0307, P0305, P0304, P1316. I know that I need plugs, and I'm getting them tomorrow. Also, I was told to replace the O2 sensor that was listed by the codes (I have a spare). I hope that that will fix it, but I thought that I'd ask what you all thought. If needed I can list what the codes mean. Thanks for any and all help!

Code Problems

According to my RAVE cd the codes are as follows:

P0300 - Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected

P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire detected

P0305 - Cylinder 5 misfire detected

P0307 - Cylinder 7 misfire detected

P0308 - Cylinder 8 misfire detected

P1157 - error code not on CD

P1179 - error code not listed on CD

P1316 - error code not listed on CD

Sorry for the absent ones. Perhaps someone else has a more complete listing.

While using this site, the unknowns are:

P1157 Land Rover HO2S Failed To Switch To Rich, Bank "B"
P1179 Land Rover AMFR Correction At Maximum Negative Value
P1316 Land Rover Misfire Causing Excessive Emissions

[Those are ODBII codes, and i'm assuming since its a 96, its ODBII, but I may be wrong.]

Those are right, but my question is what else to try if the new o2 sensor and plugs don't fix it?

Thanks for your help!

with a bunch of misfire codes, I'd expect the plug swap to solve quite a bit.

P1179 Land Rover AMFR Correction At Maximum Negative Value

I used to get this one, cleaned the MAFS and it has not been seen since. Might also want to change the air filter/fuel filter too. Here is some more info..HTH!

Electronic degreasers/contact cleaners will NOT leave a residue or harm coatings. That's why I said Electronic degreasers/contact cleaner. As stated before, CRC available at Lowes is good for this application.
Just make sure the cleaner IS for electronics. Let the MAF throughly dry out before installing and starting.
Electronic degreasers/contact cleaners are very fast drying and do not conduct electricty

Aaron did you get them back in the right firing order??

You might need to reset the CEL light?? With an OBD2 clearer??

Ok, I took it to a friend and he cleared them. The cars seems to be running ok, and no codes are poping back up. So only time will tell! Thanks again for all your help!
