I've been experiencing crackle in the audio system on our '01 HSE. This is the "better" stereo and nav system setup. Seems to come from a narrow frequency band in music and can easily be heard in all speakers, even at low volumes, on songs such as the 3rd and 4th tracks on Radiohead's Hail to the Thief and the song "Newborn" by Muse. These songs have been my test case for the dealer to use for diagnosis.

Here's what we've tried at the dealer:
- Ran the CD's in a new Disco. No crackle and no problems.
- Ran the CD's in 2 other HSE's with the nav system. The crackle is there at the same levels.

The dealer has not seen the problem before. We didn't have another RR without a nav system to try, so I don't know if that will be different.

What I'm thinking is that either the nav system is affecting the audio or there is an issue with the DSP amplifiers in these models. I believe the audio setup and DSP amps are different between an HSE and SE. Since I have the wiring diagrams, I may try filters on the various audio lines. I haven't yet tried the different DSP settings, but normally run with the DSP off.

Anyone have any suggestions besides just putting in an aftermarket system?? The audio crackle is bad enough I can't quite enjoy my tunes!
