Update.
We scored a set of BFG All Terrain (235/85/15) for a good price. we have been working on getting the oil leaks all taken care of. we plan on doing head gaskets this semester.
We have been out wheeling a few times, but were reluctant to go any where that had some difficulty as we didn't have a proper front recovery point. well, after some searching we found one. they are not the best, but they are bolted to the frame and, i feel, are better than the JATE rings that i was finding online. see the attached photos. you will know where we got the hook when you see it. there was no holes to drill at all to make this work. we just got grade 8, 3/8' x 4.5" long bolts to make it work. i think it made for a very clean install.
this was all the students idea. they took the problem of not having a front rated recovery point and started searching, thinking and looking for ideas. we finally came up with the one you see below.

none of your fucking business
It looks like you're running 33's so axle breakage will be highly dependent on your use of the skinny pedal. Although I've seen far more diffs explode under wheel spin than axles break. But most of the ones I've seen break were related to heavy foot wheel spin and not treading lightly.

Are you talking about me?

In all my dumbassedness, I never broke a stock axle shaft. I sheared the pins in 3 or 4 diffs and sheared the bolts off in a hub, but never broke a stock axle shaft.

Like Buddy said, it's all in how you drive.

No, I was not specifically talking about you. But yes, you are a good example of what I was talking about. But you're not the only one I've seen blow up diffs.
