The exhaust/muffler shield that goes on top of the center muffler on my '95 is missing. Is this something that I should have in place? I don't believe the newer models use a heat shield on top of the muffler?

The simple way to tell is to put your hand on the floor after a long drive above the muffler, if it is warm I would say get another shield.

Mine was missing too. You really want it to be in place if you do long crawling and can be in high temp areas. Had crayons
laying on the floor there totally melted once.

Original shield is like 64$ at least.

I decided against getting OE one, got some aluminium bits, heat insulation and made me own for about 10$. May want to take it out in winter - it provides lovely heating :)

I thought about making one, maybe I will look into that first. Where did you get the heat insulation?

Local ACE shop. Alternatively you can get cool adhestive backed one from summitracing.com or alike. Should be like 19$/sheet to my recollection. Then you can put it on aluminium base and it will make thing that will last quite a long time :)
