Hi,
2000 D2 134,500K
Got some chirping going on and figure these boys need swapping out. I bought the kit from Atlantic British.

How hard a job? Tips, tricks? Torque settings?

Thanks

Easy job, hour max... Change your BELT at the same time!

Tips: take your time and look at how the belt is routed BEFORE removing

Specs: RAVE manual is listed on here somewhere, get it!

The fan doesn't have to come off. Just route around it or feed the belt through the blades. This is a very easy job. Lefty loosey right tighty.

Not to expand the mission, but how old is your water pump? If your fan wobbles a bit when running, consider replacing the pump while your at it. I had a chirp and found my pump was the culprit this way.

Water pump done at 105K miles so hopefully that's not the culprit. I have 135K on the truck now. Was done back in 2008 so not sure if time is a factor.

Still can't find the torque settings in Rave manual. Saw a you tube video of the process. Stated 37lbs for both the idler pulley bolts and 33lb for Tensioner bolt.

Also there are 80MM and 70MM pullies - which goes where? Easy to tell?

Got her done. Not too bad.

70mm idler pulley goes under the tensioner pulley, Larger goes up top near the alternator.

Hardest part was tightening the fan nut. I went ahead and removed it. I have the 36mm wrench for the fan nut but no tool to hold the flywheel bolts in place. just wedged a piece of metal in there to keep from turning. No torque wrench but it was only 37lbs as the spec so just made sure it was snug.

Definitely more quiet now. On the next as I now noticed low coolant level.......
