Are any of you D2 guys running without your front sway bar. I'm running RTE 2" HD springs with OME HD shocks.
I was wondering about the road handling characteristics. I don't want to know about disconnects now, just if anyone is running without it totally.
If so, do you need extended brake and abs lines?
TIA

Walter - I have been running without my sways since MAR. It takes a couple of days to get used to it, but it is not scary at all. For what it is worth, I am running the 3" RTE springs. I also have the extended lines (brake and abs), but am not sure that I really need them.

Walter,
When I had my DII I drove it with and without sway bars (265/75/16 W 3? RTE, extended ABS and brake lines).

Per the recommendation of others I removed my front and rear sway bars. After getting used to it for a few days I started to feel ok with the way it behaved. I drove it without the sway bars for a while but one day I had to brake and swerve out of the way of another car.

I went home and reinstalled the front sway bar.

Now I have a 1999 DI and I am looking to put at least my front sway bar back on. Unfortunately it is not as easy on a DI as the DII and I will have to play around a little to make things work.

To answer your other questions.

It will depend on your lift and shocks. Mostly the shocks since they are the limiting factor for the most part when it comes to down travel. For instance I had RTE 3? lift on my DII with long shocks and it needed longer ABS lines and Brake lines. On the other hand I know people with 3? OME lifts that do not need them because their shock limits the down travel prior to stretching the ABS/brake lines.

Each situation is different so test your and see what works for you

I did Bill. It gave plenty of good information. I will remove my front sway bar this weekend to see how it goes. It's easy to put back on if I don't like the results. Then I'll work on disconnects.
