I messed up the threads on the sway bar while installing coils/shocks this weekend. I'm wondering if I can buy just the one side of the sway bar or is the whole thing replaced as a single piece? A part number and advice on where to purchase would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Attached is a pic of the part I need

How far gone is it? You might be able to use a thread chaser or file on it to straighten them out. That part is called the "end link" in case you have to get a new one.

D2 'end link'

I think the threads are beyond hope. I had to cut a slot in the end where the torx bit fits because the torx end was messed up bad.

Removing the sway bar is an option but I'd prefer to keep it for now.

Does anyone know of a source (other then dealer) for a drivers side 'end link'

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

I removed my front sway assembly when I installed OME springs and shocks. I also ruined one side of the assembly. I cannot remember which. I believe I still have the sway assembly in the garage.

If it is a driver's side connection that I have that is undamaged, you are welcome to it. I will try to check tomorrow.

I disconnected my rear sway on my dII over the weekend, and couldn't figure out a good way to remove the inkage.. We broke off one torx bit in the bolt, and gave up.. what is the easiest way to remove the linkage, or is it easier to just leave it on there, but not connected?

I broke off the torx bit when i tried to take mine off as in the tech section where they describe how to remove and install the JKS disconnects. They say to use 2 wrenches on the top(i cant remember the sizes) and then the torx on the bottom one. I just took the bottom one off the same way as the top with the two wrenches and didnt use the torx.

From picture it looks like tie rod and not sway bar. Driving without one can be kind of hard.
But then it can be just me...

D2 sway bar

Cameron, If you have one you don't need it would be great. I think both sides may actually be identical.

Attached is a better picture. The Arrow indicates the area were the threads are messed up. (not a pic of my truck)

I have a 3" OME lift and run without the front and rear sway bars. The only time I notice it at all is at highway speeds and it's windy. Just more body roll basically. It'll scare the piss out of you if you're not used to it though. I've thought about putting one back on to see if it helps. I didn't notice it at all with a 2" lift though.

When I did my OME lift on my DII, I put quick-disconnects on the front. After a month or so I discarded the rear sways. Another month went by and after a trip I couldn't get the front reconnected on one side because it had bent and I couldn't get the pin in the hole. So I drove home totally disconnected. And I discovered that it handled perfectly fine. Been driving that way ever since. In fact, with the stiffer OME set-up I actually like the ride and feel better without the sways.

not a huge difference running w/o sways bars with OME MD springs and shocks - more body roll but very livable
