D2 Fuel filter

Does the D2 have a fuel filter? I thought I read that it did not have one, but then did a search and someone suggested changing the fuel filter on the D2 to cure a stalling problem. If it does have one, where the hell is it? Is it difficult to change? My D2 has 75+K miles and was thinking about changing the fuel filter for piece-of-mind.

So much for piece of mind, your D2 doesn't have one.
Are you have a problem that led you to believe the filter needed to be changed?

Thanks Mike...
No, no problems knock on wood (touch wood for our UK listeners).
I was just wanting to stay up on some preventative maintenance.

Mike,

Yes the D2 does not have a seperate filter element per se; but what about the dual screen element that wraps around the circumference of the FSU in the tank? Isn't it possible for that screen to be clogged? Ever?

Just wondering,

I asked the same question of a service/tech at the dealership and was told that the screen was self cleaning....I just smiled and walked out of the dealership.

Yes, the fuel filter has what is refered to as a sock, and yes it can plug up and no it is not self cleaning. Usually what will plug it up has to be sticky and that inturn attracts material from the bottom of the tank to accumulate and then plug it up. Big time problem more for diesels because of the moss that can grow in a diesel tank.
