I have just experienced what people all accross the country must face every damn day. I took a customers car up to a Land Rover dealership to get an O2 sensor put in it. They have a 150K warranty extension on some vins. I looked at the car mid week and ordered a part for a park brake issue. At that time I saw the code for the o2 sensor and checked the warranty coverage. I agreed to take the vehicle to the dealership and get that sensor taken care of.

Now heres where it gets fun. I had checked this code 2 times in the prev. week. It was always the code requsting the light. I didnt clear it but it became current again on every cold start. So the mechanic gets the car, clears the codes and stored another fault that was never in the vehicle and has not restored since I got the vehicle back. The O2 sensor heater fault is now requesting a light.

I was being asked to pay $200 to diagnose the check engine light because an o2 sensor heater fault was not requesting the light on a fully warmed up engine. Go figure?

That being said. Anyone else having basic trust issues with your Milwaukee area Land Rover dealership. I would urge you to contact me at British Automotive Specialties LLC in Hebron Illinois www.skipsbritish.com. I won't do you dirty like that.

First off - best of continued luck with your shop!

My experience varies on where we lived. The Dealer in Tokyo was totally fastidious and my ‘96 RHD D1 ran like a top! The Dealer in Liechtenstein took care of my ‘94 LWB from 2011 to 2016 while we were there. They were able to get parts directly from LR in GB and had all the specialized RRC tools. Techs really liked working on it. Worst was my local Dealer in Pittsburgh, PA. They were so bad they finally lost the LR Dealership.

Thanks for that. I really believe Land Rover is going to fail. I hate to say it and really not what I want to see it.. I rode Oldsmobile to the ground and that was 10 times the manufacturer Land Rover is. They build a great product but all the people are leaving. You can't sell and service cars without people. The young people running the company now just change stuff up so that they alone understand. Problem is the American public will not wait around for you to get your shit together.

Dealerships are not unique to "trust issues" If you were around here, you would get my business.

I take mine to the dealership because they are more reliable on the quality of work that I have, they will give me a ride (45 minutes) or loaner car and the Independent shops around here are not any cheaper or closer to me than the dealer. So far I am really happy with Land Rover Colorado Springs.

All dealerships aren’t like what I experienced. This asshole was insisting he gets paid 1 hour from me before he does the warranty work I already diagnosed for him. That’s called stealing. Get you fired from a good dealership

When I started out with Rover there was an old timer named John out there at Colorado Springs. He was hispanic but born here. I was 30 and he was probably 50 at the time. He tought me a ton of shit when I was trying to figure this stuff out. I believe one of the first retailers in the states. He was there from the begining, like 1988.
