Detroit Locker, Which Gear Oil?

Which gear oil should be used in a differential with a Detroit Locker. I am using a Mobil 90W. I occasionally get this metallic " clunk " from the locker when driving from standstill. Is 90W enough or should I use a 140W gear oil ?

I have always heard, the thicker the better. But, I run 90w with about a 1/2 liter of Lucas. It has been fine for 2 years or so. Of course, mine is changed pretty offen (about every 5-8,000 miles, somethimes less if I run in some deep water). FYIW.....
