Disco II, hitch receiver ball mount

I've recently bought a factory original trailer receiver (off ebay), and am wondering what ball mount adapter I need to buy for the hitch ball linkage.

This is the receiver I bought:
http://www.roverconnection.com/Disco 2 Acc/hitch.htm

I'm wondering if the square bar that is inserted into the receiver is a standard size (like what is fitted on fords, toyotas, etc) or is it a 'special' Land Rover part *only* that fits this receiver?

I found this site with the ball mounts:
http://www.roverparts.com/ProductList.asp?PerPage=20&CurPage=34

They have both a 2" drop and 4" drop... Anyone have any idea as to which is the more common one? FYI, I'm towing a small boat (hobiecat) on a standard small boat trailer? Plus, the occasional utility trailer for trips to the dump.

Is there something I can measure to tell me what ball mount adapter I need?

TIA

I would say your fine with the standard 2" drop. The 4" drop is handy if you are running a lift, which I assume you are not. I have a 2" drop ball with a 3" RT lift with no ill effects.

Any receiver will work for a class III hitch. You can go to Wal-mart, or any autoparts store and buy a regular 2" drop receiver, and ball. It will be much cheaper then buying a LR part.

run the 2 inch drop - the only thing with the walmart part is that it fits alittle loose, and makes some rattling (at least mine does on my D2) -- fits the D1 perfectly though. save some $$$ -- go to wally world.

You should buy a ball and tung to fit the trailor, the drop you need is whatever it takes to make your trailor set level. As far as the ball, they are usually 2" and that can vary. Whatever you do, don't buy it with the idea of using it for a recovery point, you'll get into trouble easily.

Thanks, guys! If the wallyworld part's a bit loose, I'll probably just weld a little spacer or somethin on it... :D

Just found this site...What a great resource!!
