So which years and fuel are you going to look at?
We got a 2019 Disco Sport HSE, petrol 2.0, and we are impressed with it. Right now it's very winter outside, and it handles the snow and terrible roads with ease like any other decent LR. It's a good size, fits in the garage, and yet is comfortable for 4 adults, decent for 5, we don't have the rear sets and that's fine as we have the LR3 if we need that.
Size wise it's actually closer to a LR3 than you'd think. Parked by each other you can see that the LR3 is a bit bigger but not by that much, and the load space with the seats down is a 3 inch difference, the LR3 being just that little bit longer. It's easy to drive and park. We have taken some of the local 2 tracks as we call them here and it's done fine there.
There may be problems with the diesel 2.0. From what I have ferreted out, the DPF regen process adds extra fuel to burn and that can wash into the engine oil, diluting it and the diluted oil wears the tinimg chain and guides, so if the DS has been only maintained to LR spec, as in extended oil changes, could cause issues and failures. Petrol doesn't seem tp have these problems.
Our experience has been postive and we would buy again.
