Does anyone know if they are running certified check scams out of Holland?

I remember some talk a time ago about India, but was wondering about Holland. Guy says he wants to send me a certified check, from a third party. I should wire him the difference. Damn this sounds like complete bullshit as I type it. Just wondering what you guys have heard so far.

It's a scam.
Same line, different country.
I have one of my Classics posted for sale on a few sites and I get atleast one email like that every morning.
No exaggeration.

Its a scam. They come from all over the world. I got a few similar e mails when I was selling my truck. There is info about one of the scams on the Secret Service website.

First I wouldn't do this earlier, but why can't you say - no problem. Once I get the cashier check and it clears my US bank, I would be glad to wire you any overpayment.

Think about it. If it was legit, why wouldnt they just send you the correct amount? Why the overpayment?

The problem is, it WOULD clear your US bank. Then you send him the difference. Now the US bank tries to clear it through his Holland account and it bounces. Now, the US bank takes money back out of your account and it's up to you to collect, which obviously will never happen. You would end up out of a lot of money. As someone said ealier, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is...

On this note, check out www.419eater.com for a good laugh and some background on these types of scams. It is funny to read how this guy gets them to take humiliating photos of themselves and send him money before he lets them know he knows its a scam. Good stuff... :D

Did a check on one of the email addresses, turns out it is registered out of Nigeria. Damn scammers, would love to send those assholes a virus with my response.
