Does heat hurt a solenoid?

Pulled me winch out to work on and thought it'd be a good time to relocate the solenoids. I was thinking in the battery box where the jack resides, but it gets very, very hot in there.

Anyone done this? Does high heat affect the operation/lifetime of the solenoids?

yes heat does affect them,but in the area you want to mount then its not hot enough to give you any problems.just don't mount them next to your exhaust manifolds

heat kills selonoids

but the heat comes from the amperage load going thru them so relocating them dosent completly fix the problem
