Anyone ever had that little black actuator pin inside the spine of the door go bad? The sensor pin on my drivers side door is bum. When i open the door the light doesn not come on, and it messes with the alarm sometimes to. The computer does not know the door is open or thinks its open when it is closed so that damn horn blares over and over.

if anyone has had this problem let me know. Can you just order up replacement piece?

I replaced them all on my 87 RR. Replaced them with the D1 version. They were pretty cheap and easy to install. The internal contact on the older design was prone to fatigue, the new version (D1) appear to be a better design. I believe I purchased these thru Atlantic British.

The wire behind the pin has likely come undone. Remove the acuator pin and reattach n(solder) the wire back together again.

Take care when removing. Recommend you disconnect the battery otherwise you may cause the exposed + lug to short out against the door rail. Believe me it happens! You may want to wrap some electrical tape around the exposed contact when you re-install, worked for me.

Just my .02 cents

You could also clean it/them out with a little electrical contact cleaner. Couldn't hurt. I bought a can of that stuff from Lowe?s about four days ago to clean out my MAF and I've gone a little crazy cleaning electrical stuff.

Hoot,
I don't remember having to do any re-soldering for the connections. If memory serves me they where slide on termination clips. For the door switches all it took was a philips head screw driver to remove from the door tower locations, pull them out thru (being careful not to let the exposed contact touch a conductive area) then pull the connection off. Re-install in reverse order.

On a scale of 1 to 10 beers, I'd rate this as a 1 (ok maybe a 16oz and not the 12 oz version)

Good luck,
