Just got back from Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe - fun drive up 89. We didn't go off to any 4x4 trails, but the scenery at Emerald Bay is A+!!! I've been here many times on a boat, but this was the first time seeing the spot from up above - just as beautiful, a must-see if you get to travel in the West Coast! ;)

You can stop few hundred yards past Vista Point: parking is very limited, but you can try making your own spot  There's a steep gravel trail, about a mile long, that lets you hike down to the shore and see the Vikingsholm (historic Swedish home), have a small picnic on the beach, and just chill in the woods. (stupid camera died before we got to the shore... so no pics from down below :( )

We just did a nice little off road trail from Truckee over Mt. Watson to Tahoe City. Nothing too much for your Disco but some parts might be a little challenging. You end up with a beautiful view of Emerald Bay and the entire lake from high up on the California side. Some amazing camp sites along the way. If you'd like to know about the trail I can give you more details. Or maybe I'll just keep this secret to myself! Hmmmmm...

Keep Tahoe Blue!

Haven't been to Donner or other trails BD mentioned up there yet. Yet! I used to mountain bike around here quite often, but just now starting to explorer the 4x4 area. As I start outfitting my truck with some off-road goodies (yes, the wheels you see in below pics are gone) I'll be happy to hit the trails with you guys up here!
