About 15 years ago I owned a string of Range Rover Classics and Discos when they were plentiful in the $800 - $1500 range, but sadly here in the midwest they were finally all so rotten that I moved on to jeeps and toyotas. Earlier this month I was shopping for a 4 door JK and suffering a bit of sticker shock when I came across this 2004 Disco. It is not a prime example by any stretch. The intake is pissing out coolant, shuttle valves and a couple of abs sensors are bad, and there is rot in the back 10" of frame, but it was less than the down payment on a 8 year old JK and I figured the $400 a month I was saving on payments would set this truck to right pretty quick. On the plus side, my 7 year old daughter is an absolute fan.
Fun land rover problems so far -
Intake Gasket Leak
3 amigos
odd transmission behavior
rust at the top of the windshield
fuel door release missing clip and not function from the button
frame rot
valve covers, oil pan, front crank seal and possibly front cover leaks
heated windshield inop
and finally - the run sunroof occasionally just decides to randomly open itself
All in all, I am super happy to be back in a disco - they are just more fun to me than a TJ, JK, or WJ
