Flooding in NC Mountains

Worst flooding since 1918 from frances. Rivers were 20 feet above flood level. Massive damage. Over 100 roads still closed. Massive mudslide on I-40 near Old fort..one lane open in both directions...Many trails are washed out...Mud slide on Blue Ridge parkway near Linville caused 9M in damage and road to be closed a year...And now Ivan lurks on the horizon....

Hang in there, we got friends in Beaver Lake, hard to beleve how bad it is just 75-100 mi away from here.

Yeah it was pretty awesome seeing the river running at those levels.

Asheville got hammered. 4/5ths of the city lost water access, water mains broke adding to the damage, whole gas tanks floated downtown, U-Hauls Gasoline pumps got flooded out so now part of the town smells like its going to explode if you light a match. 3 foot creeks gained 14 feet!!!! in depth when flood stage is 7 FEET!!!!!!!!!!!!
