I have been looking for a bolt on Diff Gard for the front diff with little success. Does anyone know of any out there (besides Southdown) for the DII.

I have heard good things about QT's, however, the front QT for the DII is weld on. I will probably go with QT for the rear diff gard though.

Have no fear, I am using it on my d2. Beat the crap out of it and still no worries.

Well, it looks like the census is in. I still find it hard to believe there are no bolt on (only) diff gards for the DII, but I guess that is the case. I will probably be going with the QT's (I suspected that before I started this thread), which will force me to install the TT front diff prior to any welding. Which means I have to find a HD axle for the rear so I can put in a Detroit at the same time in the rear diff. Which means I am going to spending a looot of money in the next month. Dang it, the wife is going to kill me. :(

What I have found is that the wife will kill you if you are upgrading, but if you are just "fixing stuff that broke", it is different entirely! It works especially well if she isn't mechanically inclined. "Do you hear that humming honey?? It sounds like my engine is getting ready to blow. Better replace that sucker with a 4.6 before someone gets hurt!"
Regarding the QT front guard, I have had a bit of trouble with it banging on the tie rod. It could just be me though.

Well, Lance Doyle just schooled me on how the front QT works. It appears that the part that is welded is on top and it is just one of the tabs that the rest of the diff gard bolts onto. -->You can still remove the diff gard by unbolting it. So, in conclusion, I am going to buy some diff gards today/tomorrow. Sweet.

Big Red: It is hard to convince my wife that a Detroit diff and HD axles are entirely necessary. Believe me I have tried. Now I have to resort to the age old man trick: deposit money in a coffee can for a couple of months. That way she can't track it! :D

Why not Southdown? I have been running Southdown front and rear for 3 years now and they have more than earned their worth. I got to admit though.....those QTs are sexy.
