Front End Vibration

I have a new vibration on my '96 Disco. It's between 20 and 50 mph, only when accelerating, and I can feel it in the steering wheel and peddle, so it's the front end, although it's still pretty light.

My first thought was my new tires were'nt balanced correctly, so I went back to teh shop and rebalanced and mounted the with the aid of the road force balancer, they let me cause I use to be a service manager there, but it didn't fix it. Also all the front end components appear to be tight.

My thought is it's finally time to upgrade the front driveline. I did the rear shortly after the 2" lift. I checked it out first and it still apears to be fine though. I hate to go blow Christmas money on a driveline, but unless anyone has any ideas, that's gonna be my next move. Figure I needed one anyways.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ryan,

What condition is your stearing stabilizer in?
Check that out first as it helps stop the lighter shakes from about 20-50 MPH.

Had that problem on my R1. Thought it was the tire, then the stearing head, I even suspected the rotors! Turned out it was the stabilizer.

I put a new OME steering stablerizer on last January. The nuts are tight on it, and it looks in good shape. Never considered the rotors, but I put on new rotors and bearings when I had it saftey inspected in September. Thanks for the thought!

Check out the stabilizer. It may not be tight anymore (worked in rubber gets loose over time). Especially if it is a few months old.

Copied this from another thread...

spring preload?
tie rod bushing?
panhard rods?
steering column?
wheel bearings?
swivel joints?
universal joints?
