Anybody have a cool looking fuel cap on their Defender? The emissions testing center wanted to take mine away, said it failed it's test, and wanted to stick some retarded looking cap on there and charge me $10.00.

keep your old one, get the new one from them and put your old one back on when you get home. Well, thats what I would do anyway.
you can't. If you buy the replacement right there on the spot, you have to give up your old cap. I'm planning on buying a $5.00 stant cap and going back tomorrow, then running my LR cap, just as you said.
What? that is ridiculous. yeah, get another and using it for testing and just use the land rover one the rest of the time.
so I bought another new cap this morning, put it on the truck, and went to get it tested. They failed my brand new cap! I told the guy to run it again, failed. I told him to run it a 3rd time, passed. So where is the real problem? The cap? Don't think so. The testing machine? It's possible. The stupid ass fucktard setting up the test? Most likely. When I confronted the guy with this logic, all he said is "we fail brand new caps all the time, that's why we offer these for sale right here". Are gas cap makers employing standars so loose that theyare running at about a 50% success rate? No. I would lke to see what happens when they put their own caps on the tester. Chances are 50% of them would fail I bet. Rant off, thanks.
