Might not be the right place to ask but looking to see if anyone else has had to replace theirs due to theft/loss/damage.

Have you guys had to buy all new at full price?

I see them pop up for sale on various Facebook groups on a regular basis. The prices that sellers are asking end up not being a significant savings over buying new once you account for the re-registration fee. If you can wait until November, Lucky 8 usually offers a Black Friday deal on them (blank key included).

I’m pretty impressed with what the gap tool will do. But isn’t it kind of only licensed to work on your vehicle by vin? So if it’s locked down like that it seems like it’s not going to be worth much to the thief. And if the guy tries to pay for a license to run his car, the stolen hardware will hopefully cause him problems.
I would plead your case to them that you have already payed for your license agreement and just need the hardware that was stolen.
I think it’s a pretty amazing tool for a Rover guy smart enough to process the data. But for a professional it seems like the license stuff gets to be too much

Yeah, its a nice tool! You're correct about its licensing and tied to a specific vehicle. There are other options to license more but dont know the specifics.

Of all the things that were stolen, this was the most useless one for them to take and i dont think they even know what it was exactly beyond an obd2 reader.

I have contacted the company and they have blocked that device from being transfer if sold off and also gave me a reasonable discount on a new one. My experience with their customer service was pretty great to be honest.

Contact GAP and tell them your VIN, perhaps they will know if they get a license change request.
