so whats the red-line for a 2.25? now that i have my rochester carb installed(still not tuned) im getting much higher revs than i ever did with the webber, so i rummaged around and installed this pretty little moon tach so i can see whats going on:cool: i know it looks out of place and the rivet counters will go batshit crazy but i think its fun and its not hard to remove. it also goes well with my cheap advance auto oil pressure and temp gauges. so what do yall think? is this redneck enough for ya?:D it idols around 1000rpm

The numbers 4,500 RPM is what I *think* the redline is. The number is in the green bible.

My idle is set to what makes the engine happy.

The 2.25 tends to grenade between 5,200 and 5,400 RPMs, but most engines will develop 'valve float' and start loosing 'performance' much above 4,500, so it's kind of a self-limiting thing. The 2.25 has got big and heavy metal bits that really don't like going all that fast. Idle - with a Zenith - is book-specified at 750.

Cheers
