Has anyone installed one of these hi-output alternators on their D1?

That guy should stop smoke whatever he was smoking. 1372 is direct fit to Disco and only thing upgrade is belt.
MG support is good if you actually manage to get through their phone system. Their CS is pretty crappy on emails, but they are mechanical shop.

All that said - i am waiting on MG to remanufacture my alternator that failed in 8 months. And it was pain to get through phones..

actually read that in another post Sergei. what happened? i've had my mean green for about a year now. and besides a little whine (from the very beginning), been good to go. i did have some issues when i first installed it, but since then it has been fine. they were actually great with me in terms of customer service, but you definitely want to call, email takes forever.

No idea - they recieved it over with UPS today so i havent been told yet any reason. They covering it under "unconditional 2yr warranty" at least for now.

Basically it been whiny a bit, then i started to get stalling/starting issues when heating up. Then one day it started to sound like something was rubbing against it, and of course it was all clear. Then few days ago sound worsened and i actually started to notice vibes, went to local shop, and dude told me that he thinks that coil went loose inside it... And then same night, while i tried to check it - it screamed, cranked and dropped dead ( generator light went up). So something just went out inside. Me thinks it didnt survive offroading and some bearing inside went south.. But we shall see what MG will say. They said normally it takes about 24hr to get it sorted out and sent. So.. Waiting i am :)

The q was on alternator just passing on what I learnt. I have their starter....lr one died at 55k (disgraceful) MG died 70 k later, they replaced it for $150....no complaints
