Reminds me of a time, as a kid, when I went shooting w/ the gentleman who taught me how to point-shoot. At the time, I had a Cold Cobra .38 special. He was shooting a streamlined .45 Commander.

When I pulled out the Cobra, he said (with a very serious look): "You really oughta file down that front sight." I asked why. He said (still with the serious face): "Well, that way, if you ever have to shoot somebody with it, it won't hurt quite as much when they have to pull it back outta your ass...."

[PS- yes, I am jealous... wish I had the cash right now to buy an LR3]\

From the Land Rover manual:

Stick assembly removal.

On Discovery 3 vehicles of North American specification with manufacture date of 2005 or later.

Special tool FOOT-145 is required for proper removal of the stick assembly.

Testing: In order to ascertain the condition of the driver of the vehicle and the presence of the stick assembly, query the driver logic system using the method described in the "offroad sensitivity testing" described in this manual.

If driver logic indicates a positive response to the presense of mud, rocks and river crossings then the stick assembly is not installed.

If driver logic indicates an aversion to mud, rocks and river crossings and instead shows an attraction to mall parking lots and detail shops, then stick assembly is indeed present and requires removal and servicing.

Stick Assembly removal:

1. Disconect the negative lead to the battery cable.
2. Remove ignition key set from pocket of driver unit.
3. Placing driver logic unit as close to the plenum as possible, utilize bonnet in gentle squeezing action to secure driver unit for stick assembly removal.
4. With driver unit secured, use special tool FOOT-145 on driver unit backside applying 150 Nm of force a minimum of five times or until driver unit code "uncle" is displayed.
5. Stick assembly unit should be removed from the driver unit ass assembly.
6. Reprogram driver logic unit using data provided on DVD "Camel Trophy" part # CAM-123.
7. Recheck driver logic unit after 3000 miles for further adjustments.

LR3Owner doesnt have a stick up his ass, he's sitting on a cloud all to high looking down at the world, very enthralled with the mirror he uses to check his own visage every few minutes, has never wheeled or when he has been wheeling has been too afraid.....& is afraid to get grease on his manicured fingers Drives a porsche but likely has no tracktime, can not heel toe, or double clutch. Likely his "porsche' doesnt have a clutch...
Lr3Owner isnt ashamed, or interetsted in learning.

the correct term is

Im not ashamed. But I am interested in learning.

There. There you go. Interest in learning is a great start. I do sincerely commend you, i think you've come a long way. I mean that.

DO you know how to change a tire/have had to do this before?
Make sure you can do that. Then, if so, you need to go offroad, with some folks who know what I am talking about.

Welcome and enjoy the ride!

Lucky that didn't kabob the Bob. Not an easy hole to patch in a LR; let a lone your leg or torso.
