I found your oil.......

I have posted a couple of times on people that are getting less oil into there eng's than normal....I found it. I just put 7.5 qts into a 95 Disco and still can add a bit more....No it is not on the ground (yet). You think you know these Rovers and sure enough some thing comes along and presto makes you scratch your head at times.

Well if its something like 20w50 and its cold outside (and its been bloody cold this morning in Durango) then it can be as simple as matter of oil been too thick - i.e it just spreaded while you been putting it down and not quite down there yet. Or it can be seriously gunked to block passage... I'd let it stand for a hour or so and remeasure..

No the shop is a 75 degrees and I just drove the Disco and still reads the same. Go figure.

mmm... 7.5 quarts??? Did you change the oil filter with a larger filter???

my 94 takes just over 7 quarts when I change it...and that includes prefilling the filter

so whats the big deal

just changed the oil in my 96 last night. used the k&n 3001 filter. put in 7.5 quarts. usually holds alittle over 7... no problem...

I wasnt saying.....

I was'nt saying there was a problem....just wierd. I have seen 6.0-6.5 qts wich seems low at times, But on this one Gen filter and almost 8 qts. Just a little strange.

i JUST CHANGED the oil in my 3.9 using an OEM I think I used about 6.5-7 quarts I had a little left over from last time from filling the filter almost a quart in there. so who knows just as long as there is some in it.
